Exotrail positions itself as an end-to-end provider for space mobility and helps plan and execute complete missions. From needs analysis through mission planning to mobility services in space, the French startup covers all aspects of a space mission. The spacecraft “Spacevan” is at the center of its operations. It is designed to transport satellites precisely to low Earth orbit (LEO) with specific orbital planes, inclinations and altitudes, as well as to geostationary orbit (GEO). The Spacevan uses electric propulsion to deliver multiple satellites to different positions.
To launch the spacecraft into orbit, Exotrail is now relying on Isar Aerospace going forward. The Munich startup developed its Spectrum launch vehicle for small and medium-sized satellites and satellite constellations. Under this partnership, Exotrail missions are scheduled to launch from 2024 to 2029 from Isar Aerospace’s launch sites in Andøya, Norway, and CSG, French Guiana.

Exotrail is not the first space mobility provider to rely on Isar Aerospace’s launch services. Just this summer, the Munich-based company announced that it had won Italian space infrastructure provider D-Orbit as a customer. D-Orbit has developed a solution with its ION Satellite Carrier that can target satellites to specific points in orbit and accommodate multiple payloads on every mission.
