Mentessa has developed a platform that connects employees for learning and collaboration based on skills. The startup’s app aims to help employees quickly and easily find the right mentor, advance their careers, or share their experience – regardless of hierarchies, locations, and biases. With this approach, the edtech startup secured one million euros in a seed round in March 2022.

Now the startup, founded in 2019, can secure financing and support from EIT Digital for a project in collaboration with Raiffeisen Landesbank Steiermark, a funding program co-financed by the European Union. The amount of funding was not disclosed.

The joint project between the Munich-based startup and Raiffeisen Landesbank Steiermark aims to test Mentessa’s intelligent skills agent, and in doing so – with the help of AI and large language models – to understand, connect, and develop the skills of Raiffeisen Landesbank Steiermark’s workforce. Tina Ruseva, founder and CEO of Mentessa, comments:

“We are grateful for the opportunity to work closely with Raiffeisen Landesbank Steiermark and the EIT Digital ecosystem. The project will not only promote technological innovation but also contribute to a more inclusive workplace. We look forward to sustainably influencing the way we collaborate.”

“Only when we understand the skills of our workforce can we connect and develop them”

Diva Tommei, Chief Innovation and Education Officer at EIT Digital, adds:

“This collaboration with Mentessa is a prime example of how EIT Digital wants to promote innovation and skills development in the European digital sector. Mentessa’s approach of using AI to improve skill enhancement fits perfectly with our mission to support digital transformation and workforce development across Europe. We are excited to see how this project develops and contributes to the development of workplace dynamics.”

And Peter Krtschal, head of human resources at Raiffeisen Landesbank Steiermark, comments:

“We are delighted to work with Mentessa on this project. Only when we understand the skills of our workforce can we connect and develop them. The collaboration with Mentessa will bring us one step closer to our strategic HR agenda. Mentessa’s vision aligns with our commitment to foster continuous learning and development for our employees and to lead industry transformation in the region.”
