Apinity is a former business division of the Allianz incubator Syncier, which has been active on the market under the name Syncier Marketplace. The startup combines a software platform and a marketplace for insurance-specific API services. Managing director Anna-Carina Häusler explains:
“Our customers and conversation partners had often invested a lot of money and time in their cloud and API management projects, but were still far from being able to efficiently use their APIs in daily business operations with customers and partners. We want to support our customers where they can benefit most from APIs: in the business operations area as a holistic platform.”
Apinity to “integrate other industries into the insurance industry’s API ecosystem”
With the acquisition by Munich Re, the startup will now continue to expand its own development, strengthen access for additional customers, and consolidate expertise. Torsten Jeworrek, member of the board of Munich Re, explains:
“Apinity is an insurtech that covers industry-specific services and at the same time has the potential to integrate other industries into the insurance industry’s API ecosystem.”
With its SaaS platform for API Business Operations, Apinity aims to enable companies to maximize the business value from their APIs and make them part of their future API strategy. To do this, the solution allows users to start their own API business and offer internal and external users a customized marketplace. This simplifies API management and aligns it with specific practical requirements. In addition, new business opportunities should be created this way and costs reduced through the reuse of APIs.
