Munich Startup: What does your startup do? What problem are you solving?

Malte Zeeck, co-founder: We want to rethink milk. With Precision, we’ve developed a new generation of milk products that offer the full flavor of classic cow’s milk but are significantly healthier and more sustainable. Our milk alternative consists of 97 percent plant-based ingredients and 3 percent high-quality milk protein. This allows us to combine the best of milk with the best of plants. Many people love milk but want to consume more consciously. Until now, they mostly had to choose between taste and responsibility. We show: you can have both.

New category: neither cow’s milk nor plant milk

Munich Startup: But that already exists!

Malte Zeeck: Classic plant-based milk exists, but it’s always a compromise. Either it lacks flavor, or it doesn’t foam well. We wanted to create a product that solves exactly that. Precision is neither cow’s milk nor typical plant milk – it’s a new category. Thanks to our precise formula and processing technology, we’ve replicated the taste, texture, and frothing ability of real milk with a superior nutrient profile and significantly better environmental footprint.

Munich Startup: What’s your founding story?

Malte Zeeck: We – that’s Fabio Labriola, Malte Zeeck, and Philipp von Plato – all come from digital entrepreneurship. Fabio was co-founder of the e-commerce company Fashionette, Philipp and Malte built Internations, and Philipp also founded Westwing. After successful exits, we wanted to create something with real impact. We’re united by the desire to develop products that taste good, do good, and are good for the world. That’s how the idea of completely rethinking milk came about, and together with research partners like the Fraunhofer Institute, we spent over 1.5 years working on the perfect formula.

Innovation requires patience and precision

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Malte Zeeck: Taste is incredibly complex – that was the biggest challenge. Even the smallest changes in pressure, temperature, or composition have major effects on the result. We had to perfectly align the formula and processing technology to achieve the same mouthfeel and creaminess as cow’s milk. At the same time, with our vision – eventually completely cow-free through precision fermentation – we’re moving into new regulatory territory. Innovation requires a lot of patience and precision here.

Munich Startup: Where do you want to be in one year, where in five years?

Malte Zeeck: In one year, we want to establish Precision across Germany in retail and gastronomy. Currently, we’re present in selected Edeka stores in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Hamburg. The rollout for all of Germany and Austria will follow in 2026. In five years, we want to transform the milk market with a completely animal-free milk alternative produced through precision fermentation. In parallel, we’re expanding our product range to include yogurt, cheese, and milk-based drinks. Our vision: conscious enjoyment without compromise.

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup hub so far?

Malte Zeeck: Munich is exactly the right place for us. There’s a strong network of foodtech, research, and entrepreneurship here. Proximity to partners like the Fraunhofer Institute was crucial for our development. Plus, Munich stands for quality, enjoyment, and innovation – values we strongly identify with. We experience an open, growing environment that truly understands and supports foodtech.

Precision is part of our DNA

Munich Startup: Outsource or do it yourself?

Malte Zeeck: We believe in focus. We handle research, product development, and brand leadership ourselves. That’s our core. We realize production and logistics with experienced partners who share our quality standards. This enables us to scale flexibly without compromising on the product. For us, precision doesn’t end with the name – it’s part of our DNA.
