Relevo has secured a strategic investment from Jokey Group. The Munich startup offers sustainable reusable to-go solutions as a pay-per-use system, customized to meet the individual needs of restaurants, cafés, corporate catering, caterers, and collective food services. The startup was founded in spring 2020 by Aaron Sperl, Gregor Kolb, and Matthias Potthast. According to the company, the Relevo reusable system is now used at more than 3,500 partner locations across over 800 German cities.
Now the Munich company is bringing on board an investor for whom circular economy is nothing new. The Jokey Group established its own reusable packaging division with KeepIn in early 2023. All KeepIn products, such as bowls, trays, and beverage cups, are made from recyclable plastic. Christof Kölschbach, CSO of Jokey Group, comments on the current investment:
“Our investment in Relevo is an important step to further expand the market position of our subsidiary brand KeepIn for sustainable reusable packaging in Germany.”
Gregor Kolb, founder and managing director of Relevo, adds:
“We are delighted to have won the Jokey Group as an investor for Relevo. The family-owned company Jokey is a renowned manufacturer of food and non-food packaging in Europe. Jokey’s sustainable focus and pioneering role in circular economy for packaging convinced us. Additionally, our partner restaurants benefit from high-quality, sustainable, and durable reusable packaging from the Jokey Group.”
The Jokey Group has been cooperating with other reusable systems for some time, including the Danish deposit system New Loop and the Spanish reusable system Bumerang.
“With our investments, we want to further advance sustainable reusable solutions in Germany and Europe and be part of the bigger picture. In Relevo, we see an innovative reusable solution that is both easy and practical to implement for restaurants and consumers thanks to its digital, deposit-free concept,”
explains Ramona Lob, head of the KeepIn business unit.
