On September 1, 2022, the new Social-Startup-Hub Bayern (SSHB) began its work. The SSHB is the core of a cross-departmental concept decided by the Bavarian state government to promote social entrepreneurship.

Advice and networking

Social enterprises contribute to solving societal challenges by pursuing new, innovative solutions in all areas of society using entrepreneurial methods – from inclusion through ecology, climate change and integration to education and care. The focus of the new Bavarian Social Startup Hub is on advising and networking aspiring social enterprises with existing structures. The free consulting and networking offering is aimed at founders from the early founding stage onwards. The focus here is not on whether there is already a mature idea or an ongoing project, but on whether impact orientation is at the forefront and the project is supported by a sustainably viable business model.

“Unique nationwide”

Social Minister Ulrike Scharf emphasized at the launch of the SSHB:

“Bavaria is only strong together. Social entrepreneurship creates new opportunities for our economy, but also for society, which we urgently need to seize! Our Bavarian Social Startup Hub is unique nationwide and is specifically aimed at aspiring social entrepreneurs. The Social Startup Hub is the central point of contact and provides targeted support. Anyone who wants to implement an innovative idea can now turn to the SSHB.”

The SSHB is intended to pool specialist expertise across departments and serve as a cross-thematic and cross-sectoral platform. For example, it also aims to build bridges to existing founder promotion and consulting services or established advisory centers such as the inclusion offices. The hub is operated by the Social Entrepreneurship Akademie (SEA) in Munich. The Bavarian Social Ministry supports the SSHB through model project funding.
