Temedica develops various digital therapy companion apps and links these apps to its Permea insights platform. In doing so, the Munich-based startup brings together data from various sources, such as registry data, sales data of medically relevant products, and insurance data. In this way, Temedica aims to provide a complete picture of the actual patient care reality and improve individual, patient-oriented care.

The data collected is not only intended to benefit doctors and clinics; patients themselves should also have access to it. Through the patient companion apps, they should gain an individual understanding of their disease and information about the connections to their lifestyle. This way, Temedica wants to enable patients to take an active influence on their disease. The startup promises the highest level of privacy and data protection.

Gloria Seibert, founder & CEO of Temedica, explains:

“Temedica’s vision is to make a groundbreaking contribution to the development of personalized medicine by linking health-relevant data to create new, evidence-based insights. We are convinced that large datasets and entirely new data types play a key role in this, such as patient-generated data from large populations outside of traditional clinical trials. These enable completely new knowledge and understanding of diseases and their actual courses. I am very pleased that our investors share this vision and are supporting us in further expanding the Temedica ecosystem.”

Investors believe in Temedica’s vision

The expansion of the funding round is being led by existing investors MIG Capital and a Munich-based family office. The funders are supporting the Munich startup with an additional 25 million euros. The Series B round completed in early 2020, which brought the startup 17 million euros, saw participation from MIG Fonds, Santo Venture Capital, and Salvia as lead investors. Existing shareholders such as Bernd Wendeln and G+J Digital Ventures also invested again.

Boris Bernstein, partner at MIG Capital, emphasizes:

“Temedica operates in a massively growing and highly attractive market. The newly developed real-world insights platform Permea provides life science companies with a deep understanding of patients and their care in the real world – outside of clinical trials. Access to this unique 360-degree understanding of care reality has the potential to revolutionize our healthcare system as we know it. The employees at Temedica are highly motivated and goal-oriented, and we are very pleased to work with the team and continue our joint journey.”
