Trail offers a developer-friendly solution through its platform for scalable and trustworthy AI development. It aggregates, analyzes, and structures AI project data to make it accessible to interdisciplinary stakeholders. This enables companies developing or implementing AI solutions to automate governance workflows, technical documentation, and transparency. Ultimately, it helps them prepare for the EU AI Act and certifications like ISO 42001. To this end, Trail provides a free self-assessment tool on its website that determines the risk class and obligations of the EU AI Act for each AI use case.

Trail has now successfully completed its pre-seed round, securing €1.45 million. The round is led by early-stage investor CapitalT, with participation from NP-Hard Ventures, Mozilla Ventures, Common Magic, and various business angels. The fresh capital will help accelerate Trail’s product development, expand its team, and strengthen the Munich startup’s market position as a leading AI governance solution in Europe.

Trail is “on track to dominate this important market”

Trail CEO Anna Spitznagel explains:

“We are in an ideal time and position to tap into the rapidly growing AI governance market. Trail’s mission is to support companies that prioritize quality and trust in AI, enabling them to develop and deploy AI responsibly without additional overhead.”

Eva de Mol, Founding Partner at CapitalT, comments:

“We were impressed by the complementary strengths of the founding team and their AI-driven approach to overcoming technical and compliance challenges. We are convinced that Trail is on track to dominate this important market.”

And Mohamed Nanabhay, Managing Partner at Mozilla Ventures, adds:

“At Mozilla Ventures, we have always championed trustworthy AI. Trail’s team shares our vision and we are proud to support them. Their developer-focused approach to AI compliance makes them an integral tool for companies seeking efficient AI governance.”
