On June 21 and 22, the international tech scene will gather in Amsterdam for the The Next Web (TNW) Conference. Last year, the Financial Times event saw over 10,000 participants from 80 countries watching presentations from more than 190 speakers. Additionally, over 220 companies exhibited at TNW 2023. This year, speakers include Formula E driver Antonio Felix da Costa, Jelena Zelenovic, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the European Investment Bank, and investigative journalist Geoff White. Of course, numerous founders will also take the stage, such as Bas van Abel from Fairphone, Mette Lyyke from Too Good To Go, and Lubomila Jordanova from Plan A.
Right in the middle of the hustle, TNW Conference visitors will also find a booth for Startup-Champs Germany. Under this name, the four largest German cities – Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, and Munich – have joined forces to generate greater visibility for Germany’s startup ecosystem. At booth number #45, Munich Startup will also be present to explain the unique characteristics of Munich’s ecosystem.
Furthermore, each partner city is bringing startups to Amsterdam so they can present themselves at their own booths. From Munich, ESG-X, Exomatter, and May Auto Data have won the selection process.
ESG-X
Valentin Aman, co-founder and CEO of ESG-X, explains:
“ESG-X digitalizes non-financial reporting through its own databases and LLMs, operating at the interface of AI & ESG.”
This includes automating mandatory pre-analysis, the so-called “materiality assessment”, mapping existing corporate data, and supporting the bridging of data gaps. According to the startup, its models are capable of understanding corporate situations and therefore predicting relevant topics that must be disclosed with high accuracy. It can also automatically map existing corporate data to the new CSRD regulation.
At TNW, ESG-X will not only exhibit but also participate in the Pitch Battle in the “Next in Tech” category. The competition takes place on the second day of the event, June 21, starting at 11:15 AM. The winner of this battle will then compete against winners from three other categories in the final. Aman is looking forward to the event:
“At TNW, we want to meet inspiring industry leaders, network, and represent the Munich startup ecosystem together with other startups.”
Exomatter
With Exomatter, ESG-X must also hold its own against another startup. The DLR spinoff is developing an R&D platform for materials that creates a personalized selection list of the most suitable materials for specific applications. This is based on material data from numerous scientific sources as well as the users’ own data. The Exomatter platform enriches this data with AI and makes it possible to apply a wide range of physical, chemical, and technical criteria as well as sustainability attributes and anticipated costs.
Barbara Bachus, COO and co-founder of Exomatter, is also looking forward to TNW:
“TNW is exactly the right place for us as a deeptech startup in the materials science space. We expect TNW to bring exciting contacts with investors and companies in the materials sector as well as stimulating discussions about how AI can advance materials development. We look forward to representing the Munich startup ecosystem in Amsterdam together with other startups.”
MyAutoData
The Munich startup MyAutoData (MAUD) pursues the vision of building the largest consumer-oriented marketplace for the private sharing of personal data. The focus is on data-driven purchasing of products and services related to automobiles, as well as developing an incentive system to reduce carbon emissions. MAUD functions as a neutral data trustee. In this way, the startup wants to give drivers back their sovereignty as data owners and let them decide for themselves with whom and under what conditions they share and monetize data.
Manfred H. Heiss, founder and CEO of MAUD, explains:
“MAUD is a social entrepreneurship startup and the world’s first web-based marketplace that enables people to privately share and monetize data from vehicle use with companies, cities, and market researchers.”
The TNW organizers are also convinced of this approach, as MAUD is also participating in the Pitch Battles – but in the “Pixels & Profit” category. Here, startups pitch on the first day, June 20, starting at 11:10 AM.
About TNW, Heiss says:
“We are convinced that TNW is a great opportunity for us to make consumers, business leaders, media, and investors aware that our groundbreaking solution will strongly influence the way business is conducted today and has the potential to create a better future for society, the economy, and the environment.”
