Munich-based digital health startup XO Life has completed a new funding round of 4 million euros. The round is led by Fil Rouge Capital with participation from existing investors Sandwater, Grazia Equity, Vi Partners, and Bayern Kapital. With the capital, the company aims to further scale its AI-powered patient-pharma platform “Brite”, automate pharma onboarding, and accelerate expansion in Europe.
What is notable about XO Life is less the pure funding size than the positioning of the platform: Unlike fragmented point solutions, the startup offers a unified meta-platform that works across all medications, therapies, and indications. This approach is precisely relevant in the European digital health market because pharma and medtech companies increasingly want to standardize their patient communication, ensure regulatory compliance, and roll it out across multiple markets.
Fil Rouge Capital leads the funding round
The current round is led by Fil Rouge Capital, an investor focused on early-stage financing from pre-seed to Series A. The fact that multiple existing investors are participating again is an important signal for XO Life: The cap table remains not only international but also demonstrates support for the transition to the next growth phase toward Series A.
This is interesting for the market because follow-on investments in digital health have become significantly more selective than they were a few years ago. When existing investors inject capital again in such an environment, it typically indicates solid revenue signals, product-market fit, or clear sales prospects in B2B business.
“This funding is proof of strong demand for a unified, high-quality patient-pharma platform”,
said Dr. Friederike Bruchmann, CEO of XO Life, and continues:
“We are already working with more than 40 pharmaceutical companies, including three of the ten largest global players. This investment enables us to accelerate the development of our “Brite” platform, leverage AI across all functions, and automate pharma onboarding across entire portfolios.”
“Brite” as infrastructure for digital therapy support
The core of the business model is the “Brite” platform, which XO Life positioned at the beginning of 2025 as a further development and consolidation of earlier product components. The company describes it as a global meta-platform for digital product and therapy support, through which pharma and medtech providers can deliver patient-related information, support, and monitoring in a shared infrastructure.
The decisive advantage is scalability: XO Life does not develop a separate app for each medication but rather a central platform that can be used for multiple therapies and markets simultaneously.
For pharmaceutical companies, this means they can roll out digital offerings faster and more easily. For patients, it has the advantage that they don’t need to use multiple different applications. That’s why XO Life is investing the new capital primarily in AI features and processes that make it easier for pharma companies to quickly onboard to the platform.
Following 7 million euros in 2024, the next growth financing arrives
The current round is not the company’s first major capital raise. Already in August 2024, XO Life had received funding of 7 million euros. At that time, investors included Sandwater, Grazia Equity, Vi Partners, and Bayern Kapital among others. As early as 2022, the startup had also raised more than 2 million euros.
This shows a consistent progression: first the development of the platform, then internationalization, and now the next funding stage to scale the model in Europe. For a Munich-based healthtech company, this is relevant insofar as XO Life does not rely on a classic D2C model but instead works at the intersection of patients, medical professionals, and the pharmaceutical industry. This is where factors like long sales cycles and high requirements for trust, medical quality, and feasibility come together.
What the round means for Munich as a digital health hub
For Munich, the round is another signal that B2B-oriented digital health models with clear industrial ties can secure capital even in the more difficult financing environment. XO Life draws attention not only to patient experience but also to an infrastructure problem in the healthcare market. Point solutions for each product cannot be the answer. Rather, what is needed is digital scaling of validated information, interactions, and therapy support.
