The Munich Startup Special Prize is being awarded for the second time at the founder fair Bits & Pretzels. The winner 2024 is the startup Ecoplanet. The special prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, will be presented at Oktoberfest. The award is intended to honor the innovative power of Munich startups and make them more visible at the international founder festival.
The energy startup Ecoplanet impressed as the best Munich startup at Bits & Pretzels. The B2B company has developed SaaS solutions for energy management and procurement analysis and optimization. It currently serves more than 2,000 locations. Founded in 2022, Ecoplanet now has over 35 employees. Since March 2023, Ecoplanet has raised approximately six million euros in total capital, including from HV Capital and several angel investors.

The award was presented as part of the Bits & Pretzels networking day in the Schottenhamel festival tent at Oktoberfest by Clemens Baumgärtner, referent for labor and economy. Arno Eggers, head of Munich Startup, also congratulated and said:
“The Bits & Pretzels is one of the most important startup events for Munich and all of Germany. More than thirty countries from Europe participate in the pitch contest. The fact that a Munich startup wins this contest shows that Munich is a place where innovations emerge and startups can succeed.”
Eggers added:
“We are delighted, as a partner, to honor the best Munich startup at Bits & Pretzels again this year. Ecoplanet stands as a representative of Munich’s innovative power.”
The winning team of Ecoplanet, as a deeply rooted Munich company, is proud of the award. Maximilian Dekorsy, co-founder and CEO, said at the award presentation:
“It was important to us to raise awareness about the energy transition. We achieved this by winning the pitch contest at Bits & Pretzels. And now, thanks to the Munich Startup Special Prize, here at Oktoberfest as well! We are also very pleased about the recognition as a Munich startup that we receive through this special award.”
