The Munich Startup Award will be presented on July 19, 2023 in front of visitors to the 1st Munich Startup Festival. There, selected startups will first compete against each other in two semifinals, where two each will qualify for the final. Subsequently, a highly distinguished jury will determine the winners of the Munich Startup Award. They will receive €5,000 and may call themselves “Munich Startup of the Year”. From a total of over 70 applicants, ten startups were selected for the semifinals.

Azuma Healthtech: The startup wants to bring positive impact to the healthcare system through tech solutions. With its first product, Azuma helps simplify complex user, role, and permissions management in practices and hospitals.
Deepdrive: The high-tech company offers revolutionary powertrains for electric vehicles that allow a vehicle to travel 20 percent further or require 20 percent smaller batteries for the same range.
Deepeye Medical has developed a decision support algorithm for ophthalmologists designed to help prevent blindness from treatable eye diseases. This allows doctors to offer their patients individualized therapy.
Hema.to: The medtech startup offers objective AI-based diagnostics of the immune system from existing single-cell blood data. In this way, Hema.to aims to personalize treatments and tailor them to the immune system.
Phelas is developing an energy storage system that works with liquefied air. This is intended to sustainably and decentrally provide electricity generated from renewable sources and make it available around the clock.
Phio Scientific: With its compact cell microscope, Phio Scientific enables continuous and non-invasive cell monitoring and provides scientists with access to data and fully automated analyses of the cell experiments conducted via an online platform from anywhere.
Puray is working on a urinary catheter that disinfects itself and thereby protects patients from catheter-related infections.
Rekrutados aims to remove barriers in recruiting foreign skilled personnel. For this purpose, Rekrutados offers qualified medical professionals a scholarship program to relocate to Germany.
Stabl Energy develops energy storage systems from decommissioned vehicle batteries. The goal is to increase the use of renewable energy with the help of energy storage systems while extending the lifecycle of car batteries. This reduces dependence on fossil fuels and enables longer use of batteries that contribute to the success of the energy transition.
Twinu: The startup helps companies make their products more circular. For this purpose, Twinu offers a “Circular Pass” called a digital twin, which is intended to extend the usage possibilities and lifespan of products and enable companies to build and expand circular business models.

In the final of the Munich Startup Award, a highly distinguished jury determines the winners. It includes Oliver Manojlovic, VP Sales Personio, Gabriele Böhmer, Head of Munich Startup, Dr. Robert R. Richter, CEO Werk1, Luisa Frank, Investment Manager at Burda Principal Investments, and Dr. Barbara Mehner, Managing Partner at Xpreneurs.
