Blickfeld convinces Federal Ministry of Transport

The Munich sensor startup Blickfeld impresses at the 'BMVI Startup Pitch' and wins first prize for its innovative business idea centered around Mobility 4.0. The startup aims to enable autonomous vehicles to see with its sensors.

In July, Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer honored innovative business ideas related to Mobility 4.0 at the third 'BMVI Startup Pitch'. Blickfeld took first place and prevailed against the other 20 pitching startups. Founder Florian Petit impressed the high-profile jury at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure with his pitch.

Funding for Blickfelds Turning Assistant

The Munich-based startup plans to use its mass-market LiDAR sensor for autonomous driving, among other applications. The sensor, developed by Blickfeld, delivers high-resolution, three-dimensional environmental data and is based on commercially available components. These are combined with a patented silicon structure that scans the environment with a laser beam. The sensor startup plans to use the €10,000 funding from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) to further develop its "turning assistant." After all, the fewer "blind spots" there are in road traffic, the safer it is for all road users.

As part of the funding program mFUND Since 2016, the BMVI has been supporting research and development projects on digital data-based applications for the mobility of the future. In addition to financial support, the mFUND promotes networking between actors from politics, business and research through various event formats. For example, TerraLoupe or accu:rate.

Other winners of the ‘BMVI Startup Pitch' are Carrypicker from Hamburg, which aims to make freight dispatch more profitable, and vialytics from Baden-Württemberg, which can efficiently transmit road condition data.
