Irubis was founded in September 2017 by Lorenz Sykora-Mirle, Alexander Geißler, and Anja Müller with the goal of automating the process development and manufacturing of biopharmaceutical drugs. The Munich startup developed its Monipa measurement system to bring biological active ingredients to market faster. This process analytical technology (PAT) improves the process development and manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals.
The plug-and-play system simplifies automated measurement of metabolites and nutrients in cell cultivation as well as protein quantity and quality parameters in purification. Process monitoring and control is intended to enable higher yields and better quality while shortening the entire process development time.
Irubis aims to expand team and increase revenue
Anja Müller, CEO and co-founder of Irubis, says:
“This seed financing round reinforces our mission to make our Monipa system the state of the art in process monitoring. The financing round enables us to scale, expand our team, increase revenue, and bring the next product version to market.”
And Laura Pedroza, Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds, adds:
“Sensitive and robust measurements without additional time-consuming calibration are a long-awaited necessity for the production of biopharmaceutical drugs. Irubis meets this need with its innovative and reliable Monipa technology. Together with our co-investors, we look forward to scaling up next year.”
