Retorio is a video-based behavioral intelligence platform that combines artificial intelligence and machine learning with insights from modern behavioral and differential psychology. The company’s software is designed to create a sound data foundation for recruiting and talent development using scientific findings and AI methods. The video AI can provide a scientifically validated assessment from short video sequences of how well an applicant matches the job requirements based on observable behavior and fits the desired company culture.
After onboarding, employees are placed in realistic conversation situations from their professional daily life through video simulations. The AI provides concrete feedback and suggestions for improvement on communication behavior.
Retorio wants to help companies make better personnel decisions, make processes fairer, drive transformation processes forward, and enable as many people as possible to access personalized further education through its solution.
Expanding customer success and sales teams
In its current funding round, the Munich startup, which was founded in 2018 by former doctoral students from the TU München, can now raise capital in the seven-figure range. In addition to existing investor Basinghall Partners, who already invested in the Munich startup in 2021, Retorio now also counts two additional venture capital funds among its investors: Conviction VC and Sofia Angels Ventures. In addition, Retorio was able to attract several private investors, including family offices of a current and a former DAX board chairman and a software entrepreneur. The fresh capital is intended to further expand the customer success and sales teams.
“Training and development is particularly booming”
Patrick Oehler, co-founder and managing director of Retorio, comments:
“Our enterprise segment in particular is driving our growth tremendously right now. Some major customers are now rolling out the Retorio platform globally. Who could support us better than two long-standing experienced CEOs from major German DAX companies? With their help, we can better understand the challenges that large corporations are currently facing.”
And Christoph Hohenberger, co-founder and managing director of Retorio, adds:
“Training and development is particularly booming. Companies and investors have recognized that business success today largely depends on the direct customer interaction of their employees. We are pleased with this development and thanks to our new investors, we are now able to grow with our customers’ requirements. Especially in solving strategic issues, the input from experienced CEOs helps us translate these into concrete product solutions.”
