Bumpee was founded in 2022 by four Munich TUM students. The startup offers digital business cards that digitalize the data normally exchanged during networking. According to its own figures, Bumpee has around 5,000 users. Spreadly, also founded in 2022, has around 50,000 users in over 100 countries according to its own information. Through the acquisition of Clinck completed in August, an additional 80,000 consumers are to be reached.
Spreadly: “Significantly more information about your counterpart”
Darius Göttert, co-founder of Spreadly, explains the advantages of the digital business card in an interview with Munich Startup:
“This solves several problems: On one hand, the classic problem that paper business cards are thrown away almost 90 percent of the time, even before they are saved in your contacts. Then there’s the challenge of how to get contacts into your CRM after a trade show, for example. We solve this by connecting, for instance by scanning the other person’s Apple or Google Wallet and thus getting all contact data directly on your phone. This includes phone numbers and email addresses, but also social media accounts like LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram. You also get the office location and even the option to book an appointment. So you have significantly more information about your counterpart than if you just exchange phone numbers.”
Bumpee, like Clinck before it, will not be continued as a brand; the app and users will be taken over by Spreadly. The purchase price is confidential.
Spreadly recently completed a pre-seed funding round. The exact investment amount and the names of the investors were not disclosed. However, the startup revealed that the investment was based on a company valuation of 2.5 million euros.
