Munich Startup: What does your startup do? What problem do you solve?
Unvyl: Founders, freelancers, small businesses and companies often face a major challenge when it comes to websites and online marketing: How do I create a website? What content do I need for it? How do I design the website in compliance with GDPR? How do I reach new customers and employees? How can I approach these topics affordably? Often there is a lack of expertise and time to develop a good digital presence themselves, and high-end websites from agencies are too expensive for many. This is the problem we want to solve.
Unvyl is an AI platform with website builder, online marketing and recruiting solutions, developed specifically for these target groups. Our customers receive an all-in-one solution for their digital presence: website creation, hosting, employee search, marketing and legal compliance (including legal texts and GDPR compliant).
The foundation is the automated creation of customized websites for over 200 industries, including design, text, images and legal texts in just a few clicks. We focus very strongly on adapting the websites from the outset with AI support to the needs of the respective industries. This way, our customers have a very good starting point after just a few minutes and can begin customizing the websites to their needs. Our website editor is extremely easy to use, requires no prior knowledge and supports AI text creation, free image databases and visual suggestions on how the websites can be designed.
However, the website alone does not make small businesses successful. They need digital reach and visibility. Once the website is created and published, Unvyl uses AI to also automate demanding tasks such as SEO, Google Business Profile, content, social media posts and the creation and placement of job postings. This gives small businesses access to professional marketing measures without requiring expert knowledge.
Affordable and efficient access to a modern online presence
Munich Startup: But that already exists!
Unvyl: Our solution not only includes website creation, but also integrated digital marketing tools and employee recruitment solutions. This allows us to address central aspects of digitalization such as online visibility, digital marketing, legal compliance, e-commerce capabilities and digital recruiting. By automating complex processes such as SEO (search engine optimization), social media posts and automatic job posting placement on relevant portals, we contribute to digital efficiency gains. Additionally, we promote the use of advanced technologies like AI in everyday business.
Overall, Unvyl specifically provides founders, freelancers, small businesses and companies with easy, affordable and efficient access to a modern online presence with the necessary reach to go digital successfully.
Munich Startup: What’s your founding story?
Unvyl: All three founders come from the fields of e-commerce, online marketing and software development and have already worked together as employees at several companies. We have worked for corporations, mid-sized companies and startups and therefore know the potential and possibilities of websites with professional online marketing very well.
On a freelance basis, Matthias and Jonas have also supported small, regional companies and businesses with website and marketing issues. We kept running into the same problems: poor design, outdated or hacked websites, websites not optimized for mobile, GDPR and technical issues, lack of digital reach, difficulties finding and convincing new employees, limited time and know-how, small budgets. Existing website builders were often too complicated or lacked important features such as legal compliance or tools for marketing and recruiting. Agencies and experts are often too expensive for this target group.
That’s why we wanted to create a solution that makes professional online presence possible and achievable for everyone. That’s why we founded Unvyl (derived from the English “to unveil” – to uncover, make visible). Planning and development began part-time in mid-2021. The company was founded as a limited liability company in March 2023 and the platform went live in August 2023.
Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Unvyl: It was very important to us to understand the needs and problems of our target group as well as possible from the beginning and to design our product accordingly. That’s why we spent a lot of time conducting interviews, performing user tests and constantly challenging which features are really important. We often discarded entire feature sets and completely reoriented ourselves.
Technologically, our platform is also very demanding because we need to cover everything from domain registration to hosting, website creation and editing to marketing connections, AI functions and recruiting in order to have a chance in this highly competitive market. We didn’t want to use existing content management systems, but instead developed a completely independent solution. At its core, there are no dependencies on third-party systems, which enables rapid further development. As a self-funded startup with a small team, this posed a real challenge for us.
Ambitious 5-year plan
Munich Startup: Where do you want to stand in one year, where in five years?
Unvyl: The foundation is laid! Our customers can achieve their goals more easily with Unvyl and the feedback is very positive. In one year, we want to further develop our core products (website, marketing and recruiting), make them even simpler and more efficient and significantly expand our own reach.
In 5 years, Unvyl should offer much more to enable founders, freelancers, small businesses and companies to reach their full potential by providing them access to technologies and resources that are normally only available to large enterprises.
Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?
Unvyl: Munich is on the rise! We’re experiencing a growing community of founders and startups, incubators, coworking spaces and startup centers, mentors and events. What’s particularly great is that everyone (from our experience) is willing to help each other. We can only recommend that everyone pursue their ideas and be brave – you are not alone! This spirit even extends beyond the city limits to us in Dachau.
Munich Startup: Quick exit or long-term commitment?
Unvyl: 100 percent long-term commitment. We have an incredible amount of fun with what we do and we’re solving a real problem. In this context, there are still many other aspects that we would like to tackle together in the future.
