Munich Startup: What has been your career path so far?
Conny Marx: I studied industrial engineering in Munich and then pursued a successful career in strategic partnership management at various corporations. My path led me to a position as “Head of” before I decided in 2017 to start my own startup. Since then, I have been passionate about the startup scene, both through my own projects and as a consultant for startups.
Munich Startup: What motivated you to invest in startups?
Conny Marx: From my own experience, I know how challenging it can be, especially for female founders, to obtain investments at the beginning. That’s why I want to provide targeted support. It’s important to me to contribute to promoting future innovations, and I believe that startup investments are an effective way to achieve real impact.

Munich Startup: What technology or industry do you find particularly interesting right now?
Conny Marx: I find the medtech industry particularly exciting at the moment. There’s an incredible amount happening here, and new technologies are being translated into concrete applications. Beyond that, I’m interested in ideas that develop solutions to address the challenges of demographic change. Nevertheless, I’m always open to innovations from various sectors and enjoy being inspired by solutions that have tangible impact.
Munich Startup: In your view, what advantages do diverse founding and VC teams bring?
Conny Marx: Diversity always brings different perspectives and opinions to the table. This leads to teams being open to various viewpoints. This is an enrichment for any team and contributes to the success of startups.
Munich Startup: What are your three favorite work tools?
Conny Marx: Canva, Trello, and Google Workspace.
Munich Startup: Your top tip on “pitching”?
Conny Marx: Keep it as simple as possible so that everyone can understand what it’s about. Stay cool and authentic.
Munich Startup: Do you think now is a good time to start a company? Why?
Conny Marx: I believe that if you have a good idea to solve a concrete problem, you should act on it regardless of the current “times.” Even if we’re in a phase of crisis, that shouldn’t discourage you. Because it’s often from such times that very good ideas and successful startups emerge.

Munich Startup: In your view, what could still be improved at the Munich startup location?
Conny Marx: I think that Munich as a location should focus more on promoting innovations that have social or societal benefit. Alongside all the impressive technological advances, this is an area that I believe is extremely important, yet unfortunately receives far too little support and investment.
Munich Startup: Which female investor or investor would you like to meet in person sometime? And what would you ask them?
Conny Marx: Through the Female Investors Network, I’ve been fortunate to already meet many inspiring female investors. I especially look forward to personal meetings with Katja Ruhnke and Conny Hörl. I’m interested in learning what factors they need to feel confident investing in a startup.
