#Startups of the month

**Place 1:** The Munich industrial startup **Manex AI** completed a seed funding round worth 8 million euros this month and catapults itself to place 1 of the startups of the month for June. Lightspeed Venture Partners and Blueyard Capital led the round. Capmont Technology and CDTM Venture Fund also participated as additional investors. Manex AI develops Manufacturing Optimization Agents – AI-powered software solutions for automated factories. The platform targets manufacturing companies and aims to provide a central control layer for autonomous manufacturing. **Place 2:** As announced in mid-June, private equity firm Great Hill Partners is taking a majority stake in **Peter Park**. Founded in Munich in 2019, the startup has developed a digital platform for parking space management and currently manages over 450 customers and more than 90,000 parking spaces in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. The technology replaces analog systems with a scalable, cloud-based solution featuring automatic license plate recognition. The exact investment amount is not known. According to the press release, however, the investment increased Peter Park’s total growth capital to over 100 million euros. (Photo: Peter Park)

**Place 3: CedarDB** fully leverages the latest hardware and brings 50 years of database research from TUM into practice. Why the Munich startup is focused on long-term growth rather than quick exits and which industries can benefit now is something we learned from the CedarDB founding team early in the month. **Place 4:** Munich fintech **Scalable Capital** completed its largest funding round to date, as announced early in the month. The company raised 155 million euros (175 million dollars). The round was led by investors Sofina and Noteus Partners. Previous backers Balderton Capital, Tencent, and HV Capital also participated again. In total, the fintech has raised over 470 million euros to date. Sofina is an internationally active investment company based in Belgium and listed on Euronext Brussels. Noteus Partners is a pan-European investor focused on technology-driven growth companies. (Photo: Scalable Capital)

**Place 5:** Less than a year after its last major investment, **Helsing** announced in June the closing of its Series D funding round of 600 million euros. The funding comes from both existing and new investors. Prima Materia leads the round, with additional investment from Lightspeed Ventures, Accel, Plural, General Catalyst, and Saab, as well as BDT and MSD Partners. Helsing was founded in 2021 and positions itself as a defense company focused on AI-powered capabilities to protect European democracies. For this purpose, the startup develops AI solutions for modern weapon systems and is increasingly manufacturing drones, aircraft, and underwater drones itself.
