Deepc raises €12 million in a Series A financing round. Sofinnova Partners, Bertelsmann Investments, and existing investor Winning Mindset Ventures are participating in the round. The fresh capital is to be used, among other things, for the expansion of the company and the development of additional features for the DeepcOS platform.

Founded in 2019, the startup Deepc develops AI software for medical imaging diagnostics. It aims to radically change the work process of radiologists. The company’s core technology, DeepcOS, is a cloud-native, vendor-agnostic platform that can be integrated into existing radiology workflows. For hospitals and medical practices, the platform is intended to serve as a central hub for all AI-powered radiology applications and services.

“Entirely new approaches to healthcare”

Franz Pfister, co-founder and CEO of Deepc, explains:

“At Deepc, we are convinced that AI has the potential to open entirely new approaches to healthcare. Our AI platform DeepcOS will transform radiology from the ground up by enabling the use of AI products for faster and more accurate diagnoses, and thus better treatment outcomes. We are very pleased to have Sofinnova Partners and Bertelsmann Investments on board. Their extensive network in healthcare will help drive Deepc forward significantly.”

Following a successful seed financing in February 2021, the medtech company can now secure a Series A of €12 million. The funding is intended to promote the marketing of the AI operating system and further product innovations to increase user-friendliness for radiologists. Additionally, the medtech startup wants to advance its expansion.

Broad application of AI in healthcare

“Our investment in Deepc underscores our conviction that digital medicine has immense potential and that the technological foundations are at the forefront of the digital revolution in healthcare – precisely what we have aligned our investment strategy for digital medicine with,”

said Simon Turner, partner at Sofinnova Partners. He added:

“DeepcOS enables the broad application of AI in important areas of healthcare. The team has successfully demonstrated the benefits its development work brings to medical professionals and their patients.”

Deepc has already won a number of awards. In 2020, the Munich-based company was honored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as the main prize winner with the Founder Prize and also received the special award in the health category. The Eugen-Münch Prize from the Münch Foundation and the Munich Digital Innovation Award also went to the startup in 2019. In 2020, Deepc was among the 50 German startups with the greatest success in startup competitions.
