Which startups have the best prospects of soon completing a successful funding round? We take a look into the crystal ball and present five companies that are ready for investment.
To assess which startups are ready for investment, we orient ourselves to the “Dealroom Signal” from Munich Startup Insights. This evaluates companies based on four categories: “Timing” indicates how much time has passed since the last funding round; “Growth Rate” refers to the startup’s growth rate; “Founding Team” examines the founders and what successes they have already achieved; and “Completeness” finally refers to the data availability of the startup within Insights. Startups can achieve a maximum score of 100 points in all four categories, as well as in the overall rating. (Photo: cac_tus / stock.adobe.com)
Robco specializes in developing flexibly adaptable robot hardware kits for various use cases in mid-sized manufacturing – such as loading and unloading machines or palletizing. The Munich startup aims to enable small and medium-sized manufacturing companies to easily operate automated robots. The robots are configured and operated for their respective application using the company’s own cloud software platform. With the Munich-based software kit, industrial robots can be programmed quickly and efficiently. With this, founders Roman Hölzl, Paul Maroldt, and Constantin Dresel secured a Series B funding round of €39 million in early 2024. Dealroom considers the timing perfect for a new round and awards the full score of 100 points in this category. The overall score is 90. (Image: Robco)
Phelas specializes in developing a liquid air energy storage technology tailored for integration with renewable energy sources. The so-called Aurora long-term energy storage system is designed to advance the energy transition. To this end, it stores electricity generated from renewable sources locally and makes it available around the clock. At the beginning of last year, the young company already secured €4.1 million in a seed round. What does the Dealroom Signal say now? It sees timing already at 96 points, but the growth rate at only 84 points. (Photo: Phelas)
Orbit Health has developed an app that helps provide personalized treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease. For this purpose, smartwatches record movement data, which is analyzed and evaluated by AI. This allows treating doctors, caregivers, and the patients themselves to continuously monitor and access the patient’s condition. In the year of its founding in 2021, the startup was able to secure support from EIT Health and thus €1.5 million. However, venture capital has not yet flowed to Orbit Health. 94 points in the timing category of the Dealroom Signal suggest, however, that this could change soon. (Image: Munich Startup)
Ottonova: The private health insurance company Ottonova was founded in 2015 by Roman Rittweger, Sebastian Scheerer, and Frank Birzle. It focuses on digital services, such as personal advice via chat. The Munich startup’s portfolio includes private health insurance and supplementary health insurance as well as software solutions for the insurance industry. The startup completed its last funding round in autumn 2022, with the Series F bringing in €34 million. The Dealroom Signal of the insurtech currently reaches 78 points, with 100 points in the “Timing” segment. (Image: Ottonova)
Recup& Rebowl has, according to its own statements, built Germany’s largest reusable container system for gastronomy since its founding in 2016 and is now also present on the Austrian market. The last funding round was several years ago and brought the Munich-based company €12 million. At that time, existing shareholder Müller Medien as well as Blueworld Group, Summiteer, and GLS-Bank participated. Now the time is approaching for Recup’s next investment – the Dealroom Signal gives 76 points, and in the “Timing” category the Munich company is at 91 points. (Image: Recup)
