Which startups have the best prospects of closing a successful financing round soon? We take a look into the crystal ball and present you with five companies that are ready for investment.
When assessing which startup is ready for investment, we orient ourselves toward the “Dealroom Signal” of the Munich Startup Insights. This evaluates companies based on four categories: “Timing” indicates how much time has passed since the last funding round; “Growth Rate” refers to the startup’s growth rate; “Founding Team” examines the founders and what successes they have already achieved; and “Completeness” finally refers to the data situation of the startup within the Insights. Startups can achieve a maximum score of 100 points in all four categories, as well as in the overall rating. (Photo: cac_tus / stock.adobe.com)
Verso offers software for sustainability management for mid-sized companies. The company wants to accelerate and simplify the transformation of the economy toward sustainability. To do this, the Munich-based company offers mid-sized companies a SaaS solution with which they can manage their activities in the areas of sustainability, ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). Founded in 2010, the startup was able to convince investors most recently in late 2022. At that time, Nord Holding participated with an undisclosed amount. The timing for the next financing round would therefore be right: The Dealroom Signal awards 98 points here, and Verso achieves a total of 85 points. (Photo: Verso)
With 100 points in the Timing segment – with a total score of 83 points – the Dealroom Signal sees Ebenbuild ready for the next investment. The seed financing of the Munich healthtech startup for 2.5 million euros was already some time ago. Ebenbuild develops personalized simulation models of lungs, so-called digital twins, based on patient data. These are designed to predict airflows, applied forces and tissue stretches within the lungs and calculate digital biomarkers from this. This helps doctors carefully weigh the effects of mechanical ventilation on individual patients and make informed treatment decisions. (Photo: Ebenbuild)
Filu wants to become the leading provider of animal care in Germany. Founded in 2022, the three founders Anna Magdalena Naderer (CVO), Christian Köhler (CEO) and Justus Buchen (COO) were able to raise 5.1 million euros in a seed round in November 2023. At the beginning of the year, the Munich veterinary startup expanded to Cologne and opened its fifth veterinary clinic there. The Dealroom Signal sees the timing for the next financing round at 100 points. Overall, the Munich startup achieves a score of 81 points. (Photo: Filu)
The Munich fintech Ivy has developed an API with which it wants to enable open banking payments around the world. Direct account-to-account payments eliminate the need for intermediaries like Visa and thus their transaction fees. So far, open banking technology providers have largely limited themselves to domestic transactions in a single currency – Ivy is meant to change that. In September 2023, the startup secured both a seed and a Series A financing. Now the timing is back at 100 points – at least according to the Dealroom Signal. Overall, the startup settles at 80 points. (Photo: Ivy)
Village Data Analytics, or Vida for short, has developed geoinformation software for decision-makers in companies, NGOs and authorities. It provides various types of information about locations in real-time, such as geodata and high-resolution satellite imagery. Additionally, the Munich-based company supplements the information with quality-checked on-site data, such as information about potential customers, local industry or telecommunications. The startup also promises to be able to map local physical climate risks through 2080. In this way, Vida wants to enable data-driven investment, business and policy decisions in rural villages in Africa and Asia. The Munich-based company also offers more comprehensive due diligence reviews of investment opportunities. Vida’s last investment was some time ago: in September 2023, the Munich team received three million euros. But it’s not just the timing (100 points) that impresses, but also the team (79 points). The total score is 66. (Photo: Vida)
