At the Munich Startup Festival, the final for the title of best Munich startup 2025 was fiercely contested. Five finalists had qualified for the Munich Startup Award 2025, namely Omegga, Peak Qantum, UniteLabs, Munnai, and Exomatter.

Ultimately, UniteLabs convinced the jury with its idea of an open platform for automating and digitizing laboratory processes in the biosciences. The technology of the Munich biotech company enables devices and software from different manufacturers to be networked together. Users can develop individual workflows and deploy them efficiently. The goal is a future-proof laboratory architecture that accelerates research and is flexibly adaptable. In addition to the trophy, the winning startup can look forward to prize money of 10,000 euros.

The Munich Startup Award ceremony took place immediately after the pitching round at the Munich Startup Festival in the Backstage venue. Together with Arno Eggers, head of Munich Startup, Gabriele Riedl, Business Development Manager at Messe München, crowned this year’s winning team. Eggers said about it:

“Selecting the winning startup from nearly 300 applications was not an easy task for the jury! But that’s exactly where the strength of the Munich Startup Award lies: making real highlights visible. We are convinced that we will hear a lot more from this year’s prize winner UniteLabs and are pleased to be able to support them with the prize money of 10,000 euros.”

Munich Startup Award, a special prize – and an espresso machine

The winning team was delighted with the award. Robert Zechlin, co-CEO and founder of UniteLabs, accepted the prize and explained what this award means to him:

“The Munich Startup Award means recognition to me and also a certain satisfaction to receive a small accolade in the Munich startup scene. The scene is very competitive, there are so many great companies here – like the four competitors who stood on stage with me today. The award also shows that what we do not only resonates with customers, the market, or us, but also with the Munich community. The prize also means an espresso machine – I promised that to my team.”

There was also a special prize to win, supported by Techprnrs. Here too, UniteLabs convinced the jury of the Innovation World Cup. As winner of the Innovation World Cup Special Prize, the Munich biotech startup receives an exclusive presentation slot at the Medica Innovation Forum 2025, on the main stage of the world’s largest healthcare event.
