The Munich Startup Award will be presented on July 19, 2023 in front of 1,000 visitors to the 1st Munich Startup Festival. Selected startups will compete against each other at the festival in two semifinals of the pitch competition. A highly qualified jury will then determine the winners of the Munich Startup Award. Winners receive 5,000 euros and can call themselves “Munich Startup of the Year.”

Munich Startup Award: apply now!

To be able to apply, startups must be based in the greater Munich area, which means specifically in the city or district of Munich or in one of the districts of Dachau, Ebersberg, Erding, Freising, Fürstenfeldbruck, Landsberg am Lech, or Starnberg. As of the deadline of July 19, 2023, participating companies must also not be older than five years. The products or services developed by the startup must pursue an innovative and scalable approach. Furthermore, a functional or demonstrable prototype of the product or service must already exist. All startups wishing to apply must be listed in our startup directory (register here).

Assessment criteria include degree of innovation, business idea, feasibility, market potential, competitive advantage, team, scalability, customer loyalty, and social impact.

Previous winners of the Munich Startup Award are Cleverciti, Catchys, Inveox, Hawa Dawa, Pylot, and Pixel Robotics. To date, the award has been presented as part of the Munich startup conference Bits & Pretzels.
