Bayern’s performance on the pitch is not going according to plan right now. Despite a rocky start to the season, FC Bayern is always a force to be reckoned with – even off the pitch. We’ve compiled some former and current Bayern players who are active in the startup scene.

Philipp Lahm becomes partner of startup Teens
Philipp Lahm has already been active in the startup scene multiple times: the 2014 World Cup captain supports the initiative Startup Teens. Additionally, Lahm has invested in Fanmiles and Danova. However, he later divested from the latter. Lahm is also the owner of the natural cosmetics company Sixtus and the organic food brand Schneekoppe. (Photo: Wikimedia / Rufus46, CC-BY-SA)
Joshua Kimmich has also become a startup investor. Together with Spanish World and European champion Cesc Fàbregas, the Bayern player invested in Munich football metaverse startup The Football Company last May. (Photo: Granada – Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, Link)
Greenforce Thomas Müller
Also this year, Thomas Müller acquired shares in a Munich startup. The Bayern player invested in the foodtech startup Greenforce. The Munich company offers vegan meat substitute products based on pea proteins. Most recently, Greenforce has made headlines with a vegan white sausage that is also offered at the Oktoberfest. Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer acquired shares in Votebase last year. The startup developed a voting app based on blockchain technology. Additionally, Neuer and a business partner leased the Forsthaus Valepp south of Spitzingsee and are likely investing millions in renovating the building. In 2016, Oliver Kahn presented his startup Goalplay at the Bits & Pretzels. The company wanted to support goalkeepers in training with instructional videos. Since last year, the brand is no longer active on social media. However, the app is still available for download. Kahn had another connection with the startup scene: in 2018, the CEO of FC Bayern sued the football glove startup T1tan. He himself was frequently referred to as a titan during his active career. In 2019, Kahn and the company reached a settlement and resolved the dispute. (Photo: Melanie – Pixabay)
