Full Stack Software Engineer

UniteLabs is developing an industry-first integration platform for lab automation that connects hard- & software across vendor barriers to digitalise life science R&D. Our customers are researching the frontiers of biotech, pharma, chemistry, and food. They are looking for new treatments for diseases, inventing sustainable biomaterials, or solving world hunger. For this, they want to analyse more data, run experiments autonomously, create AI scientists, and more. Our mission is to provide them with the infrastructure to do so.

As one of the first full-time hires in our company, we are looking for someone comfortable with a fast-changing and demanding environment as well as someone who can take over responsibility autonomously. We are a tech company and take pride in our code - and so should you.

We currently have two main streams in the engineering team. One is the development of our platform and adjacent applications. The other is the implementation of our products at the customer, which entails the development and maintenance of device connectors and the design and implementation of workflows. As a part of this, we develop and contribute to open-source tools and projects, including our connector development kit and industry-leading standards, such as SiLA 2.

As we aim for sustainable but substantial growth, potential leadership or expert roles are on your path as well, if desired.

Responsibilities

• Full-stack software engineering of our platform and connectors
• Assisting with the technical design and architecture of our products
• Contribute to open-source projects and engage with their communities, including our own
• Design and development of automation workflows
• Join testing and research sessions with our users
• Support in technical sales meetings
• Defining and implementing the engineering culture at UniteLabs together with Julian, our CTO

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Proven experience as a full-stack software engineer
• Based in or willing to relocate/commute to Munich, where we are hiring our core team
• Fluent in English
• Relevant academic degree with a formal education in software engineering or a related field
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience, including professional freelancing or part-time work

Bonus points for …

• Proficiency with our tech stack
• Experience with DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
• Additional relevant programming languages next to Python + TS/JS, especially C, .NET, or Rust
• German language skills
• Previous roles in startups
• Experience or interest in biotech, life science, chemistry, or related industry
